Segal for Congress Kicks Off “Jobs for Main Street Tour”: Unveils Jobs Plan
Pawtucket, RI— Congressional candidate David Segal unveiled his proposals for an economic recovery plan to kick off his week-long “Jobs for Main Street Tour” at the Pawtucket/Central Falls Train Station.
According to Segal, “Amidst cries of ‘too big to fail,’ Congress took decisive action to rescue the very same banking industry that helped precipitate the economic collapse. But we’ve waited far too long for a jobs and economic recovery plan that recognizes that America’s families are too important to fail.”
Wall Street was bailed out, yet too many Americans are still facing unemployment and under-employment. David Segal’s proposals will be centered on putting Rhode Islanders back to work right now while building the foundations for a strong economy through future decades.
Segal chose to kick off the tour at the train station because “Rehabilitating and re-using this station would put people to work today, and help improve the economies of Pawtucket and Central Falls — and the whole region — for decades to come. As the MBTA extends service to Warwick, we should seize upon the chance to connect each of the state’s three biggest cities by rail.”
His plan, available in detail at VoteSegal.com at noon on Tuesday, includes the following planks:
- Support Small Businesses – The Engine of our Economic Recovery
- Invest in a Green New Deal
- Invest in Public Transit
- Expand Access to Higher Education and Target Job-Growth Industries
- Support Critical State Programs and Public Education
- Reward Hard Work
- Protect American Jobs and Family Farms
